One, Uno, Eins

Yesterday was my 2nd doctors appointment. It was pretty uneventful and very quick. They weighed me and apparently the doctor said I gained too much weight (whatever). I thought I had done good but she said most people lose it the first trimester. She told me to stay away from the carbs I had been munching on to feel better the last few weeks. They did the doppler scan to hear for the heartbeat. It was pretty hard to hear anything because you could hear my heartbeat too. She said everything sounded good though...glad she knew what to listen for. She also said there was only ONE. My next appointment is on May 9th and I've decided to purchase an ultrasound for them to do a gender check. I realize that a month later I could and will get one for free but I'm dying to know and I'm also want to see our baby again. To me it's worth it.

I've been reading up on the 2nd trimester some and I just love how it says you're going to feel great and energetic and bouncy! ....BUT you're also going to feel like you're going to black out every step you take and its going to feel like a school marching band is banging on your brain. I'm very excited for week 16 though. Not only will that be the ultrasound, but from what I've read I may be able to start feeling the baby too! YAY :)

Week 12
By now, your baby weighs a full half-ounce and is about the size of a large plum. Most of his systems are in place, though there's still plenty of maturing to do. For one thing, his fetal digestive system is beginning to practice contraction movements necessary for eating, and his bone marrow is busy making white blood cells — weapons against germs once he's out of your safe haven. The pituitary gland (at the base of the brain) has started producing the hormones that'll enable him (or her) to make babies of his (or her) own in a couple of decades or so.

  1. Good, only one! Your belly looks great and your face "beautiful! In Cuba are a saying that when the mother"s face gets prettier it is because she is carrying a girl. We will see with you, LOL
