Not a whole lot going on this week (whew thank goodness). Things have slowed back down for the week....then Sunday is the fantasy football draft party, next weekend is the women's baby shower, and then we have labor day coming up, baby classes, football season, all sorts of stuff. It's going to be busy busy right up the the day Austin is born. AHHHHHH. I know nobody will find this amusing like I did, but I had my very first bloody nose ever, in my life, last night. I was both disgusted and fascinated by it. Eric kept yelling at me because I kept blowing it...I'm weird, I thought it was cool. I mean, heck, who wouldn't think you should blow it all out?!? I knew that it was one of those weird symptoms, I just hadn't experienced it yet. Luckily my gums don't look like Dracula every time I brush my teeth. <- I found that one a little odd when a girlfriend told me about it. For the most part I'm still feeling good. I do get tired easily and out of breath, my feet do hurt and it's hard to sleep, but I still have some energy left in me. Hopefully this continues to help me push through the next few busy weeks. I'm excited for the baby shower next weekend so I can begin putting away all his things. I've been trying to wait so I can see all that I have and where the best place to organize it will be. I also have started putting things aside for the hospital bag. I'm sure after the "post-it attack" you guys already figured that would be coming. :) I have a very big list, several of them- hospital bag, baby bag, baby room organization, etc. I've also been going around baby website to baby website looking for freebies. Why not?? I figured sample sizes would probably been a good idea to put in our cars or diaper bags.
Last weekend Eric and I threw our co-ed baby shower. We invited our friends over to his parents house for a pool and poker party. Eric grilled up his Big Easy burgers, wings and hotdogs and his Uncle John smoked us some of his chicken wings. We really had an awesome turn out. Austin got diapers GALORE and some super cute outfits and what nots. I'm really glad we wer able to have our own version of a shower together and it was nice seeing everyone show up and celebrate with us.
How your baby's growing:
Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). OUR LITTLE GUY IS REALLY MEASURING ABOUT 16 INCHES AND 3.3 LBS.Your baby's permanent teeth have developed and are waiting in his gums. Your baby is very aware of his surroundings. He will even look around and turn toward light. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.) We tend to think of the uterus as a dark place but the uterus actually can be light and dark depending on your environment. You may be able to distinguish sleeping and waking cycles in your baby. Although it usually seems as if the baby wants to sleep while you are awake, and vice versa, this is not indicative of a sleepless newborn. Your baby can not only hear your voice, but can recognize it. Also, he has a grip so strong it is capable of gripping your finger. At this point, your baby may be practicing nursing as he sucks his thumb. He has lungs that are capable of breathing air, although medical help may be needed. About 9 out of 10 babies born now will survive.
What It's Like Being 30 Weeks PregnantSize: About 3.3 lbs
Weight Gain: 146lbs (26 lbs total) I'm actually pretty happy, I've stayed this weight for the past couple of weeks which means I'm not continuing to gain and gain anymore
Cravings: Besides NEEDING dessert every meal I eat, no cravings
Aversions: Nothing really
Symptoms: Charlie horses that wake me up, frequent trips to the bathroom, breathless, heartburn,
swollen feet, tiredness and 1 bloody nose
Stretch Marks: So far, so good
Movement: I feel Austin a lot- he is constantly rolling around, making my belly button pop out and now I can tell when I'm feeling his little booty. Sometimes I get side tracked at work watching him and the next thing I know 15 minutes has passed (oops haha)
Memorable Moment of the Week: Every moment with Eric- I've really been trying to soak up our time we have alone right now together.
What I Miss: Being able to sleep comfortably on my tummy, and a Bud Light Lime. There, I said it, but all those Bud Light Limes at the party last weekend made me want to cry
What I'm Looking Forward to: Football season- it is afterall what brought Eric and I together finally
Exercise: Does walking to the toilet every 20 minutes count??
What I'm Nervous About: The birthing process...
